65daysofstatic Wiki

"replicr, 2019" is the sixth album by 65daysofstatic. It was released in September 2019 on Superball Music Records.

This LP marks yet another important shift in direction for the band, although prior releases heavily hinted in that same direction. The focus is much more experimental and electronic, with only sparse appearances of guitars, bass guitar or drums (although they are sometimes present, but cleverly disguised), complicated song structures and odd time signatures.

Often considered as a strong unitary album because of its strong flow from one track to the next, it is characterised by frequent short interludes between longer segments.

While not advertised as a concept album (65daysofstatic never appreciated art categorization), the album represents both the result of experiments done during the Decomposition Theory tour and a sense of dread inspired by the modern world.

History[]

The album was written by 65daysofstatic and produced by Dave Sanderson and 65daysofstatic.[1]

It was recorded at Chapel Studios by Dave Sanderson (assisted by Alex Copp) in January 2019. It was then mixed by Tony Doogan at Castle Of Doom and mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road Studios.[1]

Regarding the concept of the album's mood, Rob Jones explained:

This was supposed to be the future, but that future got cancelled. History is moving but it’s got nowhere to go. It’s piling up all around us. That’s what this record is about. This atemporality is an illusion, it’s the cultural logic of late capitalism, consuming everything faster and faster, each artefact a more diluted replica of the last. Even the idea that ‘pop will eat itself’ is eating itself. We need to find a way out.[2]

Album Art[]

Art direction for this album was part of the band's long-running collaboration with Caspar Newbolt.[1]
