"Wild Light" is the fifth album released by 65daysofstatic, released in September 2013 on Superball Music Records. While less dance-oriented than their previous release, the album was meant as the twilight of an era, from the perspective of musical direction[1].
Many of its tracks feature interesting time signatures, rich structures and evocative soundscapes. It also marks the return of vocal samples as a means to introduce the album, as was previously heard on their first LP:
No one knows what is happening. There is a lot of danger out there. Okay?

History[]
The album was recorded at Chapel Studios, The Laundry Rooms & 65HQ by Dave Sanderson, who was also assisted by Fran Wheeldon. Some additional recording was also completed by 65daysofstatic and Tom Maddocks. It was mixed at Castle Of Doom Studios, by Tony Doogan. It was mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Frank Arkwright. It was produced by both 65daysofstatic and Dave Sanderson.[2]
Part of the experiments made during these sessions can be seen and heard on Oscillator.
In an article posted on the65republic.com, Dave Sanderson explained the genesis of this release:
Late spring 2013 saw the band and I change environments from the city to the countryside, to begin recording their first full length on-brand record in 4 years. We relocated to deepest darkest Lincolnshire to the quite famous The Chapel studios. There, we spent around 2 weeks recording and putting together what would become…..Wild Light. A clear change of direction from their main records, it was evident that the process of recording Silent Running had had an affect on how the band wanted to be perceived from now on. A more expansive, more electronic, heavy and subtle record, at first quite difficult to embrace, turned out to be a discovery process as the record was being made.[3]

Art direction for this album was part of the band's long-running collaboration with Caspar Newbolt.
